Sick as a puppy

by sweetymon @ Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2007 - 21:26:03

I think I'm gonna die. Don't you just hate it when there's nothing you can do about it? I'm taking tablets, but I still feel sick. And earlier I completely forgot that I was on tablets, followed my dad's advice and had some whisky, apparently it's good for colds. If it's good enough for cowboys dad, it's good enough for me; and it beats my mum's suggestion of hot milk with honey. Normally me and the boy get together on wednesdays and have a night in, but seen as snot and puke is hardly romantic, tonight I shall be replacing these:

My gorgeous boy

red wine

pick n mix

With these:

mom

hot choc

tablets

Hope everyone's having a good night; looking forward to the Bloscars!

Argh!

by sweetymon @ Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2007 - 16:09:26

Horrible horrible weather. Got to the job interview and there was no place to fix myself so I had to sit there with mad hair and probably Alice Cooper eyes whilst attempting to sound enthusiastic about the prospect of working. It was one of those quick interviews where you can tell that they just wanna see what you look like, cos you sound alright on paper but they don't want ugly people working in their swanky restaurant. :-/ Ah well. It's so good to be back home in baggy jeans and a hoody, those trousers and that shirt were as uncomfortable as trying to eat spaghetti bolognese on a first date - not that I'd know from experience, I have more common sense than that.

And the cherry on top of the cake is...on the way home I got a text off my sister saying "there's a photo of you on the school prospectus! I'll bring one home to show you!" Lovely. Just what I wanted to hear.

Mon xx

Fingers crossed everyone

by sweetymon @ Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2007 - 13:13:08

I've got a job interview for a really good place, where I go sometimes for yummy cocktails; didn't find out it was for that place until the guy phoned me to arrange the interview, so I'm even more excited and hope I get the job! Been digging out all my office clothes and proving my point that I look hideous in them. It's like dressing up for halloween.

Went to see Music and Lyrics last night, it was such a good film. Cheesy, funny, romantic and cute. With the boy and the ice cream, it was a perfect night! Except for my tickly cough, but ha! I'm so high on flu meds that I will be cured by friday.

Today's song is from the film:

I better go, betcha I'll get there drenched and less than graceful. >:XX weather!!! Keep your fingers crossed for me guys!

What time is it?!

by sweetymon @ Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2007 - 10:17:03

Man I'd forgotten how hard it is to get up at 7:30am... with a cold, when it's freezing outside... I must look fresh and radiant when I go to Paris, so drugs galore to cure this thing quickly, I say.

Here's a song to cheer everyone up (or not, whatever):

More coffee, anyone?

Mon The Fratellis!

by sweetymon @ Monday, Feb. 26, 2007 - 18:14:35

Just to show you what I meant on one of my previous posts about being amused by seeing "Mon the Fratellis" on screen at the Fratellis gig, here are some photos I found:

alladin fratellis

sky fratellis

bar fratellis

plane fratellis

einstein fratellis

zidane fratellis

hoff fratellis

My name's Monica, if that makes more sense. There were a lot more funny ones, but I wouldn't wanna be accused of blasphemy.

People are so mean

by sweetymon @ Monday, Feb. 26, 2007 - 11:25:02

Last night was great, dinner was yummy, the in-law's liked the wine I got them, the gig was amazing and I can't wait to see The Sounds again, the company was the best, and then we got back to the car... and it'd been broken into! Now I, being a wimp and not liking cruel things, was totally shaken up. Mike was trying to stay calm and sort things out but he was also freaking out. So it was kinda interesting, trying to comfort each other yet being completely shocked about the whole situation. It's gonna be a pain to fix the car now, and I really wanna hurt whoever did this. I believe in karma when good things happen to us, but when bad things happen it's unjustified because we haven't done anything to hurt anyone!! :??:

Back to The Sounds, I already thought the singer was really cool before I saw them, I mean who doesn't wanna be a pretty girl singer in a cool band?! And then I was amazed (or is that amused?) to find out that she's about as petite as me. Ha! We will take over the world one day. You can bully us all you like, but I bet you've at least once drooled over Kylie Minogue (and Dannii), Shakira, Nelly Furtado, Rachel Bilson, Salma Hayek and Eva Longoria? Good things come in small packages. So does poison, but that's a whole other story.

I'm gonna go sort some things out for my trip. I thought about which shoes and bags to take, the boy thought about exchanging our money into euros and booking travel insurance. See, we do make a pretty good team! I better take my coat to the dry cleaners too soooo off I go. And for the mean person who wrecked my boyfriend's car, I hope the karma bites you in the arse! Or if you're a man, somewhere else - that'll teach you! :##

Today's song is 'you are the one' by Shiny Toy Guns, or Tiny Shoy Guns as I accidently keep calling them.

Oh I actually like this sunday

by sweetymon @ Sunday, Feb. 25, 2007 - 13:27:20

Ok let's catch up... I had the most exciting friday night ever; decided to do a little experiment and take half a diazepam just to see what would happen, just in case I get too nervous when flying to Paris, last time I flew I was shit scared and it wasnt good. The result: I had a lovely sleep, for like twelve hours. Hmm maybe not such a good idea then! But then again I'm so excited that I probably wont care about the flight.

Last night was great, got to spend some time with the boy and we had a laugh. Something very weird (in a good way) happened though; he told me he'd had a dream where he was throwing a tennis ball around. I said I'd look up the meaning of that dream cos I found it funny... the result: dreaming of a ball symbolizes completeness and wholeness, tennis is a metaphor for a romantic relationship and, to dream that you are playing with a tennis ball signifies happy news. Well, would you look at that! Tee hee ;)

Plans for today are to listen to a cd, bake something and go to dinner with Mike's parents. Parents always like me, but I want them to really like me, because I really like their son. I'm sure it'll be great though! And after dinner me and Mike are going to a gig - hurrah more gigs!

So given that I woke up at midday, I better go get all this stuff done. Today's song is 'tony the beat' by The Sounds.

Burn baby burn

by sweetymon @ Friday, Feb. 23, 2007 - 12:58:43

Why did no one introduce me to snakebite and black before? It's yummy and it makes you feel pleasantly drunk, but not out of control. Well, riding on your boyfriend's back in the middle of Manchester does look a bit funny, but...to keep up with the impending cheesyness, when I'm with him I don't care about other people, it's like we're in our own little world and there's no one else around staring at you with a weird look. Ash were amazing, such a happy band. And I saw the evil guy from Hollyoaks at a gig on wednesday. And I have a day off, so must procrastinate in the form of a quiz...

If you were a biscuit, what would you be?
Cookies with smarties, don’t know why.

A mad guy with an axe is chasing you. What do you do?
Run and scream.

Tomorrow will be.....
Saturday, and I plan on doing something fun!

Current mood?
Tired and fuzzy, but very happy.

If you could have any pet what would it be?
I want a puppyyyyyyyyy!!

What are you doing for your birthday this year?
Still plotting it, it’ll be good though.

What are you looking forward to most this year?
Lots of things, at the moment I’m looking forward to going away with my boyfriend.

What are you dreading most this year?
Exams.

Song of the moment?
‘Painted by numbers’ by The Sounds.

Snow or sun?
Sun!

Chocolate or chewy sweets?
Hmm depends on the mood, probably chocolate.

If you could be a character in a film which one would you be?
I am Bridget Jones, but ten years younger.

Do you wear matching socks?
Yes, I get rid of the ones who seem to have lost their twin.

What's your keyring like?
It’s a shiny flower that came with an umbrella I bought years ago, I want this one though! It's so gay and fabulous!

What's the meaning of life?
To make the most of it cos it’s too short and before you know it it’s over, we’re all gonna end up the same way so might as well have interesting lives, get rid of the bad things and enjoy the good things.

Are you scared of garden gnomes?
Gnome?! Where??? Is it behind me?! Yes I am!

Pigeons or magpies?
They’re both annoying.

Converse or Vans?
Both hehe.

Cherries or Strawberries?
Both!

George Bush turns up on your doorstep. What do you do?
I invite him in for some “special homemade soup”…

Tony Blair comes looking for him. What do you do?
Say “Alright Tony!” and invite him in for a discussion about Karl Marx and rock bands.

Snoopy or Woodstock?
Woodstock, characters that don’t speak are funny, like Kenny from South Park.

What aftershave/perfume do you wear?
At the moment I’m alternating between CK one, Lovely by SJP, and YSL Cinéma.

Funniest event of the last week?
Seeing “Mon the Fratellis” all over the screen at the Fratellis gig, the best was Einstein writing it on a board, silly things amuse me!

One thing you hate about computers?
They die when you need them the most.

Would you rather sleep with a homeless person or George W Bush?
Eugh.

La la la la, la la la la la, la la la la, la la la la!

by sweetymon @ Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2007 - 10:47:55

The Fratellis were great!! :>> This week's full of gigs, which I'm loving. Rock n roll week! Except for being up before 9am, that's hardly hardcore.

Anyway, me and the boy defined our relationship and I was rather impressed by our ideology...you see, we're like cookies and cream. We're cookies and cream ice cream on a daily basis (sweet and great), and we're cookies and cream cocktail when we go out - with alcohol in and lots of fun. See, we make a pretty good team!

Sausage and mash, bread and peanut butter with jam, orange juice and vodka...what's your relationship like? :D

Today's song is 'Alfie' by Lily Allen, annoying little song.

Ah well

by sweetymon @ Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2007 - 14:41:55

Turns out that apprently I did have a lecture. I decided to do a couple of productive things to make up for missing it; first I went out and bought pancakes (got 12 so the whole family could have some), and they were gorgeous! Secondly, I bought a new foundation cos mine's all gone. I approached one of my fave brands, Clarins, and of course a lovely immaculate looking lady popped up to help me. I now know why Lindsay Lohan wears that silly flesh coloured lipgloss - the Clarins lady talked her into it. She almost talked me into getting a lipgloss, a powder and a perfume (ok the perfume was just me), but I was good and stuck to my list! Besides, the lipgloss is supposed to plump up your lips and for the past hour I've been involuntarily pouting.

On the way back from town I went to the shop to buy more pancakes and to my horror the till guy said "have you eaten all the other ones?"... :| ...I laughed and said "no, just thought I'd get some more". It wasn't a complete lie, I didn't eat them all. My mom had three.

Today's song is 'for the girl' by The Fratellis, gonna see them tonight!! :D

Cruel doubt

by sweetymon @ Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2007 - 10:33:56

Well, not so cruel really. I've phoned up the office and the secretary doesn't know if we have a lecture or not. The lecturer hasn't posted any notes or left us a reminder saying that he isn't in today - but then again why would anyone forget that? Unless Costa put something in my bucket of cappuccino last week, I'm pretty sure I heard the words "by the way, next week you wont have a lecture because I'll be in America"; and obviously I was so excited that I wrote it down on my diary just in case I did forget. So! I'm not going in. When in doubt, stay at home...and go after pancakes. I want a pancake tower with syrup!!!! :'(

Je veux un cocktail, stirred not shaken

by sweetymon @ Monday, Feb. 19, 2007 - 23:39:59

I really fancy one of these:

Appletini

Or these:

Cosmopolitan

But the only thing I'll be having is this:

Healthy Appletini

Because I'm trying to detox. Until next time I go out, that is! I've been very unhealthy lately and it kinda started getting to me, so I'm back to being a little healthy girl, just a little, just for the time being anyway! :D

I've gotta get up early to phone the office and ask if there is a lecture taking place or not. I swear the lecturer said he was in America this week, but my friends didnt hear that so I'll have to check in the morning. Thing is, if it's cancelled I'll be up early for no reason and, if it's on, I'll be very upset because I was expecting a free morning! :o Anyway I'm off to dreamland, night night everyone!

I wanna whine, but I mustn't

by sweetymon @ Monday, Feb. 19, 2007 - 12:21:05

I hate it when days off are ruined by chores graaaah!! I've gotta do lots of work and actually leave the house, which surely goes against the "day off" rules. There are rules, you know. The good thing is that today me and my lovely boyfriend have been together for three months! The first three of many, I hope. And we'll be seeing a lot of each other over the next two weeks; it goes more or less like this: gig, gig, gig, gig, few days without gigs, Paris! So as much as I want to throw a tantrum like a 5-yr-old, I really can't complain much!

Last night we went to see Hot Fuzz, it's one of the funniest films I've ever seen and there are so many good lines and little things that you identify with; it made me laugh. As did the boy, and the chocolate fudge brownie Ben & Jerry's - God it's yummy.

So to celebrate three months of bliss with an amazing guy, here's a little something about him *ahem*. Brace yourselves, here it goes:

He makes me wanna laugh
That's the only time he makes me cry
He always knows what to say
To make me feel alright

He makes me smile all the time
But moments are timeless when he's around
He makes me so happy that I forget everything else
And even eating in bed is allowed

I'd do anything for him
And he'd do the same for me
Though I don't like bugs
And the dark freaks me out
With him by my side
I'm not scared at all

My life got better the day I met him
He truly is a special guy
He's become a part of me
I never want to have to say goodbye.

Today's song is 'keep your hands off my girl' by Good Charlotte. :lalala:

Because I'm bored

by sweetymon @ Sunday, Feb. 18, 2007 - 19:24:26

I could be working, I could be reading, I could be eating crap, I could be watching dvds, I could be baking a cake, I could be laughing at Baldie Spears' head, the ideas are endless...the motivation to do them is non-existant. So instead, I'm doing a quiz.

So Far In 2007

Have you had a bf/gf?
Yep.

Have you had your birthday?
Nope, 6 months to go!

Been to church?
No.

Cried yet?
Yep.

Thankfully no.

Almost.

Overpriced and full of ice chips, I dont like it.

Yeah!

Gone to the movies?
Yep.

Bought something for over £200?
No, unless my education counts.

Met someone new?
Humm yeah, random people at uni.

Been out of your home state?
I've been out of my home state since 1994.

Gone snowboarding?
No.

In the past month...
Kissed someone?
Yep!

No, only boyfriend's bed.

Snuck someone over?
I wouldnt have to do that.

Snuck out of your own house?
No, I am a free adult.

Been in a bar?
Yeah.

Lied?
I can't lie, I start to giggle and tell the truth 2 seconds later :/

Gotten a car?
Nope.

I don't have one because if I did I know I'd go over it!

When was the last time you walked/ran over a mile?
So long ago I cant remember, maybe never actually.

Who was the last person who saw you cry?
Oh I dont cry in front of people, serious situations make me feel uncomfortable. So it was probably something big, and it was probably my mom.

Who was the last person who made you cry?
Myself.

Who was the last person you watched a movie with?
Mike.

Who was the last person you danced with?
Mike.

Who did you last yell at?
Yelling's not my thing, when I get annoyed I do raise my voice and let it all out in one go aimlessly at no one, just to vent. I've just noticed that makes me sound crazy!

Who last told you they loved you?
Mike.

Who makes you smile most?
Mike.

What are you listening to now?

What did you do yesterday?
I had a very lazy day; read a bit of a book, watched a film, watched Sex and the City, put a mask on my face and hair, and drank wine. Very productive!

Have you ever been in a mosh-pit?
Not voluntarily! I was pulled out of one by security guards at a Supergrass gig, seriously.

Hugs or Kisses?
Both!

I'm gonna make a proper meal to kill some time, and to freak my parents out. See ya later!

"Me" time

by sweetymon @ Saturday, Feb. 17, 2007 - 19:00:57

I was going to ask a couple of girls to come over tonight so we could have a girlie night, but it's been announced that I have a free house so I changed my mind straight away and decided to have some time for myself and enjoy some peace and quiet! Everyone needs time off from the world every now and then, whether it's to think or just to relax. So I've got this, this (so classy, I know, but it tastes like juice), this and this! And one of these to keep in touch with the boy while he's at The Killers gig! ;) So today's song is 'all these things that I've done' by The Killers.

Hope everyone's having a good weekend!

It's finally the weekend, time for guilt-free fun! Well, I never really feel bad about having fun, but at least I can do whatever I want on friday night and saturday because there's still sunday to catch up with work and things. Sooo here's my friday night song:

Crap quality but nevermind. :| Two weeks from now I'll be in Paris! Paris! Yes I've already started making a list of things I'll need to take, including sunglasses and a scarf! :>> No, not like this...more like this! Anyway enough waffle; have a good friday night everyone!

Being a woman rules, being a student doesnt

by sweetymon @ Friday, Feb. 16, 2007 - 09:26:21

Whilst getting ready this morning, I've been thinking about how great it is to be a woman. We have lots of choices about everything really. And it's fun dressing up, but we know that guys love us when we look natural. Or they think it's natural, but it takes ages to get that "effortless" look. However, it's also very expensive, not to mention painful with certain procedures! So, having been up since 6:15am because I couldnt sleep, I started thinking about how much I love being a girl and how much of my non existant student money I spend on my choices, which could be changed but being me, an appreciator of all things nice, I'm not going to unless I really, really have to. Besides, life's too short not to enjoy it the way you want to. So here's my list so far today:

Shampoo: £8
Conditioner: £8
Shower gel: £4
Moisturiser: £12
Leave-in conditioner: £9
Glossy serum: £8
Foundation: £22
Mascara: £20
Blusher: £17
Lipgloss: £13
Perfume: £30

And that doesn't include clothes. £151 on a daily basis. I could pull my hair back into a greasy pony like most students, but that's so unappealing. I better go now before you start calling me spoilt.

Today's song, quite appropriately, is:

Love,

Mon xx

I'm all fuzzy inside

by sweetymon @ Thursday, Feb. 15, 2007 - 10:51:03

Hungover, meh?! I'm not even 100% sober yet. Let's just say I had a really good night, and I wish I could temporarily swap bodies with somebody else; Eva Longoria, if you will. So when I got home last night I had a little convo with my sister...

Me: Can you tell I'm a little bit tipsy?
Alex: Tipsy?! You're completely drunk!
Me: Really?
Alex: Yes.
Me: Do you think mom can tell?
Alex: Yes.

I had the best night though; Mr Perfect made a delicious meal and we had gorgeous wine (and a beer that sounds like "whore garden", it's nice) and he got me such thoughtful presents, I was really over the moon. So today I'll be skipping along to my lecture with pink converse, honey smelling hair and a smile on my face!

Today's song is 'standing in the way of control' by The Gossip! "Yeah live your lives by the only way that you know."

V. day!

by sweetymon @ Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2007 - 12:03:05

I do love wednesdays. I don't love not being able to sleep until 4am and waking up at 9am for no reason though, so I think a nap is in order soon. Other than napping, my plans for today are to find a job and, of course, see the boy later. So I'll leave you with a poem I heard and found really pretty, it kinda stuck with me.

I Carry Your Heart With Me
by E.E. Cummings

I carry your heart with me
I carry it in my heart
I am never without it
Anywhere I go you go, my dear
And whatever is done by only me
Is your doing, my darling
I fear no fate
For you are my fate, my sweet
I want no world
For beautiful you are my world, my true
And it's you are whatever a moon has always meant
And whatever a sun will always sing is you
Here is the deepest secret nobody knows
Here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
And the sky of the sky of a tree called life; which grows
Higher than soul can hope or mind can hide
And this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart
I carry your heart
I carry it in my heart

I am totally unprepared for V. Day

by sweetymon @ Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2007 - 21:03:01

Haven't "sunbathed", haven't gone to the sauna, haven't done my nails, haven't deep-conditioned my hair, haven't put a scary face mask on, haven't done anything, really.

I have applied for a lot of jobs and set up an ebay account though, so today's been really busy and tiring. Yesterday I bought some non-alcoholic wine to celebrate passing my exams with Mike (he was driving, I've temporarily gone off alcohol), but you know how it tastes better? With alcohol in it. Whiskey, actually. Anyway I'm gonna do some exercise and all my girly things and watch more sitcoms.

Why does it feel like monday again?

by sweetymon @ Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2007 - 10:59:24

Oh God...I can't physically drink any more coffee yet my eyes are still fighting hard to stay open. Should be a fun day, especially attempting to stay awake during a very boring lecture with a lovely man whose lectures I'm considering taping for future use; in solving insomnia that is.

So, it is V. day tomorrow and I have several bad memories of this day from the past. However, I have a list of things to do for tomorrow, including getting my nails done because they're really punkish at the moment, go to sauna so that I look radiant, wrap presents and not screw up my part of the cooking. If you think my life's easy, try letting my sister do your nails and you will sympathize straight away, or after your first "aaaaaaaahhhhhhhh".

Anyway I'm off to the not-so-bad half of the day. I may flee the second half of the day, don't tell anyone though.

It's good when plans go wrong

by sweetymon @ Saturday, Feb. 10, 2007 - 16:46:17

Dont you just love it when you make plans and for several reasons they dont go accordingly? Well, this time I did. I'd planned to relive mine and Mike's first date by taking him to the restaurant we went to, then to the cinema, then drinks. First problem: the snow. Solution: stay in instead. Good idea it was too...so I grabbed chinese food, a couple of films (because the one I wanted wasnt out yet) and the drink I had on our first date and went to his house, and only got there in the middle of the afternoon because the traffic was chaotic. I did get him one of his fave choccies to make up for it though. In the end it all worked out great and we just stayed in by the fire eating and drinking and watching films, admiring the snow outside. And then he gave me some stickers, so when I got home I had the brilliant idea of sticking them all on my bedroom door. My favourites are:

A happy ending in Momoland again! Today's song is:
